Ah… Nazi Zombies! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! It seemed a little odd, reviewing blockbuster movies in my Redbox Rental column, but now that it’s out of the way, I can get back to the basics, for this Direct-to-DVD movie!

After an unusually long cold intro, the viewer is treated to the talented and lovely Catherine Steadman. She will be our moral compass, throughout the movie.
She’s a journalist who hunts war criminals… and sometimes Nazis! Black Sun might just be a code name, or password, to a mysterious technology. Or it may not. Somehow, the long-lost survivors of the Fourth Reich have discovered this machinery, and it’s created a zombie superweapon. One that will surely destroy everyone within its grasp, unless Miss Steadman and her band of Nazi exterminators get there first!

Apparently, the movie takes place in a quaint, Eastern European country. And in this country, there must not be any electricity. That could explain why the movie is so dark. It also explains the budget. Keep it dark, don’t spend money on the details.

Klausener is the target. That much I understood. Somehow, I slogged through the entire movie. It wasn’t bad. It was just hard to decipher. I couldn’t tell what was happening, without tinkering with my TV, which I refused to do. It kept me guessing, that’s for sure.

Miss Steadman is very easy on the eyes. And she can act, too. I’ll be on the lookout for her appearance in future productions.

Easily recommended for those who like relatively scary, loud movies. But beware: Only watch during the nighttime, dark, hours. Watching while the Sun has risen will deeply decimate its intrigue.

Apparently, this is a sequel to another Direct-to-DVD, Outpost. Since I neither loved, nor loathed Black Sun, I may have to give it a try. Maybe this sequel will actually make sense, once I’ve seen the original. Perhaps Black Camel Pictures actually paid a Lighting Department back then. Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking. If I can only find Outpost on Redbox somewhere…

Strength: Relatively strong production values. From what I could see.
Weakness: Get some HD cameras, Black Camel Pictures! Or at least some set lights!!!
WTF Moment: In the future, EMPs shall end the Zombie Apocalypse!!!
