Sliced With Spoilers!
Starting with an effective cold intro, a helicopter is brought down, in a dense forest. I have often wondered where is the heavy machinery needed to escape the zombie apocalypse? Is the military hiding or hoarding it? Regardless, this one is toast. Arriving onto the scene as a First Responder is the deathly-ill Andrea, puking her way through the forest, and Michonne, who must destroy her pack-mule pets. They’re quickly introduced to the military might of a small band of rebels and taken hostage.
After Merle takes a bow, acting way too kindly, we are finally introduced to The Governor! It seems he’s the sort of guy to save all humans, contribute food, ammo and shelter for them, and allow anybody to leave his fortified fortress… or will he?
Michonne seems to be the strong but silent type. Not sure what I think about her yet. However, I do know The Governor’s accent seems to change every other sentence he speaks. It bothers me. But he also holds a secret. That bothers me too. And I know some drug is in that tea… but which one?
This is the very first episode without showing anyone from Rick’s Gang. And it didn’t seem forced. Other than a few introductions, this episode is mostly exposition and nothing more.
Episode Strength: The Return Of Merle! Now with a stump sword!
Episode Weakness: Lotsa talkin’ and not much doin’.
WTF Moment: The Governor collects undead heads in aquariums.
