I’m extremely excited to be attending Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy, taking place alongside San Diego Comic-Con 2013.
The San Diego Symphony and the Sacra Profana Choir will be led by Conductor Arnie Roth with Final Fantasy Composer Nobuo Uematsu in attendance. It should be an amazing musical environment, for gamers of all genres.
Since I’m not a huge RPG or JRPG fan, I won’t know each song from memory, but I’ve heard quite a few of the Final Fantasy songs performed from past live performances, including the Symphonic Anime Orchestra’s appearance at the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention.
Celebrating Final Fantasy’s 25th Anniversary, the Summer Pops! concert will include video vignettes to supplement the music. Speaking of which, some of the music to be performed includes:
– FINAL FANTASY VI: Opera “Maria and Draco” – updated 25th Anniversary version!
– FINAL FANTASY Series: Chocobo Medley 2012
– FINAL FANTASY SERIES : Battle & Victory Theme Medley
– FINAL FANTASY X: Zanarkand
– FINAL FANTASY XII: The Dalmasca Estersand
– FINAL FANTASY VIII: Liberi Fatali
Also expected at the concert performance is plenty of cosplay, so make sure to wear your costumes to the show.
