Per My Brother:
As I was en route to ScareFest, I arrived in Lexington, KY a little bit early. So, I just happened to grab a bite, run a few errands and then I happened upon a Halloween costume shop. But little did I know, this was no ordinary costume shop.

As I entered the front door, Halloween Express proudly showed off its photo-op prop… one where you walk up behind and fit your head into the monster’s body and get your photo taken. I’m always a sucker for these things.

An attached note promoted the TV special “Making Monsters, featuring Halloween Express zombie prop. September 30, Series Premiere.”

I spoke to a salesperson and indeed, the Travel Channel had visited the store about a week or two before ScareFest to film a segment. Pretty cool.

I strolled through the shop, hoping for a burst of inspiration in creating my 2012 Halloween costume, but I was like a kid with ADD. One second I was envisioning a fantasy-film-inspired costume, then I’d come back to earth and get back onto my zombie fetish. I found a couple of ideas, one being a hazmat worker-turned-zombie creature, and another somehow featuring the zombie animotion mask, which feature creepy moving eyes and mouth. I envisioned this mask with a somewhat-stylized shawl of Death and maybe all black shirt, pants and Doc Martens. Just thinking out loud.

This was a great pre-horror-and-paranormal-convention stop and made my travels a bit more fun. More to come on ScareFest 2012!
