Arriving in Nashville on Father’s Day Weekend, Hypericon promotes literacy through popular arts and media, creating a unique experience for different fandoms in the Music City.

From June 16th to the 18th, the Marriott Nashville Airport will host the multi-fandom event. Currently in its 12th year of operation, Hypericon provides the region’s most experienced team in creating a fan-run convention.

Creative Director Lucas Leverett notes, “This year, we’ve made more efforts to stick our necks out to grow Hypericon and solidify its place as Nashville’s hometown convention. More promotion, more investment in an amazing new venue, more creative programming, incredibly impressive fan support… it’s been a great year leading up to the con, and we’re on track to max out the convention space. We encourage everyone who has not pre-registered to come on out Friday and get registered at the door, in case we hit capacity.”

“I’m looking forward to more of our phenomenal Cosplay Showcase, our Luau Pool Party, the new Barcade, and all the new dealers we’re hosting with some really unique and cool products. A week from now, we will be looking back at the biggest Hypericon of all time and lots of happy visitors and staffers, as we take a breath before starting 2018 planning. We can’t wait to see everyone this weekend!”

Gaming Guest of Honor Robert Schwalb, Artist Guest of Honor Bob Hepner, Author Guest of Honor Alethea Kontis and Cosplay Guest of Honor Nicole Marie Jean highlight the festivities. Some of this year’s featured events include Burlesque Cabaret, The Spam Slam, The Hypericon Cosplay Showcase, The Annual Time Traveler’s Ball and GMX Presents: Geek Slam!

One of our favorite elements of the convention, the Hypericon Cosplay Showcase really is an incredible event. Highlighting incredible attention to details, this competition includes a $500 gift card for a Barnes & Noble shopping spree for the Best in Show prize winner. The Master Class winner will be awarded a 90-day membership to Make Nashville and the Craftmanship winner will receive a private photoshoot at Nossi College of Art.

Master of Ceremonies Big Daddy Cool Johnny Delarocca notes, “Hypericon has quickly become the premier geek community convention in the Southeast US, and I am most looking forward to the Cosplay Contest, which is unlike any other con in the country! Hypericon has reinvented cosplay.”

Back for a second straight year, the Zombies In My Blog crew will be hosting the Talkin’ Dead panel on Saturday afternoon, where AMC’s The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead will be featured prominently. And Friday night, Matt will partner with a fellow brewer for Talking Knurdy: Local Brew Tasting and Notes (this is a 21 and up event). Both panels will offer something fun for everyone.

With so many incredible guests and events planned, Hypericon 12 is going to be the biggest and best convention in Tennessee. At-door registration is a very-affordable $42 for three days or $22 per day. For more information, visit the Hypericon webpage and make your plans for a great weekend.
